Stovetop method

Prep 5 min · Cook 20–25 min · Serves 2–3

You'll need: 1 kit (moong dal + spice pack) · 3 cups water · 1 tsp oil or ghee · medium saucepan with lid
1
Rinse the moong dal under cold running water until the water runs clear.
2
Heat 1 tsp oil or ghee in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the spice pack and stir for 30–45 seconds until fragrant.
Moong dal has a naturally mild, earthy flavor — the spice pack enhances it beautifully.
3
Add rinsed moong dal and 3 cups water. Stir and bring to a boil over high heat.
4
Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 20–25 minutes until dal is completely soft and creamy.
Moong dal cooks faster than other dals — check at 20 minutes.
5
Add salt to taste. Finish with a squeeze of lemon and fresh cilantro. Serve hot.
Tip: Moong dal thickens quickly — keep the heat low and stir frequently in the last 5 minutes.
